Cara D. Chambers-Stienbarger

Cara D. Chambers-Stienbarger, age 38, Logansport, passed away at 7:53 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the home of her parents after a courageous battle with recurrent, metastatic triple negative breast cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by her loving family and friends who will forever cherish and honor their countless memories of this beautiful, fun-loving, and hardworking wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Cara was born October 19, 1973, in Logansport, to R.M. “Jack” and Doris (Rush) Chambers. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1992 and from Purdue University in 1996, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. She was married at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport on July 4, 1998 to Chris E. Stienbarger. Since January 1, 1998, Cara has been a devoted employee of Green Power, Inc., which was a family-owned John Deere dealership in Logansport (now Tri Green Tractor, LLC). Most recently, she held the position of lawn and garden sales manager.

Throughout her life, Cara held a profound love of all animals, especially cats, dogs (in particular, her dear friend Levi), and horses. Growing up, she was an avid horseback rider, competing in 4-H as well as in college where she was a member of the Purdue University equestrian team. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, practicing yoga, and gardening.

Surviving are husband Chris E. Stienbarger, Logansport; parents R.M. “Jack” and Doris (Rush) Chambers, Logansport; sister Claudia (Ted) Mager, Granger; brother Calvin (Abbey) Chambers, Indianapolis; nieces and nephews Maren, Theo, Trent, and Meadow Mager, Granger; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Calvary Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Mankell officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Kroeger Funeral Home and at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society (700 Water Street, Logansport, IN 46947), to the Cass County Community Foundation for a scholarship in Cara’s memory (PO Box 441, Logansport, IN 46947), or to the charity of the donor’s choice in honor of Cara.
