Juanita L. Hunter Obituary

Juanita Louise (Stutz) Hunter went home on March 28, 2018.

She was born September 1, 1922 in Terre Haute, to Walter C. Stutz and Louise Kern Stutz.

On July 28, 1943, she was married to Wm. Rex Hunter, who preceded her in death on September 18, 2011.

Juanita graduated from Wiley High School and Indiana State Teachers College.

She lived most of her adult life in Logansport where she taught in a variety of elementary, middle, and secondary schools in the Logansport School System, finally teaching Anthropology and Sociology at Logansport High School.

In addition to teaching, Juanita was very active in the Logansport community.  She had been active in the Civic Players as an accompanist and was a member of various Mothers’ Study Clubs.  She was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church serving as Children’s Ministry Director and church historian.

She was a long-time member of the League of Women Voters and the Logansport Travel Club, but where she will be longest remembered is as a researcher of the Michigan Road and Logansport native Kenesaw Mountain Landis.

Where she will be most missed, however, is as mother to children, Carol Adams and husband, Dave, Indianapolis, Lisa Anderson and husband, Paul, Los Angeles, Bill Hunter and wife Debbie, Edinboro, Pa., Christine Hawkins and husband, Jim, Carmel; and to her 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Rex Hunter; brother Walter (Bill) Stutz; sister Dorothy Raubuck; and infant daughter Donna Marie.

She will be remembered by all who met or worked with her because most people noted that there was always music in her smile and a smile in her music.

Calling hours will be Friday, April 13, 2018, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The  Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 14th, at Calvary Presbyterian Church at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Chuck Compton.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Cass County Historical Society or your local League of Women Voters.  Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
