Sally J. Lipscomb Obituary

Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Wow! What a ride!”

Sally Joan Flesher was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on August 8th, 1932. She attended Bloomington High School and Illinois Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She married Harry Eugene Lipscomb on November 7th, 1953. They bought the Logansport Country Club in 1968 and enjoyed that adventure together for nearly two decades.

Sally lived her life large and continues to encourage the rest of us to do the same! From her Country Club years through her vast retail career, Sally enjoyed talking to and helping people! Sally was a faithful member of Logansport’s Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was active in the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) as well as many other responsibilities in the life of the congregation. She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority, Logansport Art Association and Mary Dykeman Guild of Logansport Memorial Hospital.

She was a voracious reader with one rule: ALWAYS finish the book you start! Sally loved the Game Show Network and spending free time solving crossword puzzles … but more than anything else she LOVED to travel with her family and friends. This was a passion she instilled in her granddaughter, Gretchen, who has always loved an “abventure” from a very young age! For Sally, life couldn’t get much better than time spent with “her girls” either at Torch Lake or on Sanibel Island, while enjoying a beautiful sunset with a Canadian Club & Water (with a WEDGE of lemon!) in hand.

Sally leaves behind her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori & Michael Winters and Lisa & Christian Robinson; a granddaughter and her husband, Gretchen & James Chauvaux; several nieces and nephews and many beloved friends she called “family”.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lipscomb; a grandson, Kelson Winters and three brothers, Bill, Bob and Guy Flesher.

A Funeral Mass at Trinity Episcopal Church in Logansport is scheduled for Friday, May 10th, at 5:30 p.m., with a reception following in the church’s Parish House.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Sally’s memory may be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church’s memorial fund.
