Annie Coba Hanna Harloff Heyne, age 92, formerly of Logansport, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 4:20 a.m, in IU Health West Hospital in Avon.

She was born April 19, 1923 to Eugene Frederick and Josephine Harloff in Blitar, New Guinea, Indonesia.

At the age of 19 she became a prisoner of war of the Japanese during World War 2.

She married Willem Heyne at the age of 24, and together they had 2 children.

She and her family moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1954, where she graduated from Business College, and later studied to be an accomplished dress designer.  She designed and sewed for friends and family members, and her work included wedding gowns, christening dresses, baptismal gowns.  In addition she sewed most of her daughter's school clothes which were one of a kind.

At the age of 38, she, Willem, and their daughter, Margaretha, immigrated to the United States and settled in Logansport, Indiana, where she lived until 2007, when she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, to be closer to her granddaughter, Oona.

Annie had a strong faith in God despite the hardships she endured in life.

Her mother died 2 years after giving birth; her father died when she was 14 years old; she survived the travesty of war and being a POW; her son, Eugene, died at 12 days of age, and she became a widow at the age of 59.

Although she did not have much money, she continued to tithe to her church.  Until she moved to Indianapolis, you could find her in the same pew every Saturday at 4:30 Mass at All Saints Church with rosary in hand.  She continued to receive communion after she moved to the Alzheimer's unit at Brownsburg Nursing Home, and enjoyed speaking to "that young altar boy", who was really the priest.

Annie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  One will never find a more giving person.  She always remembered people's birthdays and sent cards to everyone she knew year after year.  She always signed her cards, "Lots of love, hugs and kisses."

So here's to you, Annie, "Lots of love, hugs and kisses."

Surviving are one daughter, Margaretha Heyne (John) Schroeder; grandchildren, Oona (Rico) Elmore, David (Tennessee) Chrapla; six great grandchildren, Caitlyn Elmore, Alexis Layne, Saskia, Drew, Brielle and Keahla Chrapla.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Willem, on December 8, 1982, and by one  son, Eugene.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 23, in the Parish Hall at All Saints Catholic Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Dominic Petan officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
