George Wesley Mohler, age 93, Logansport, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, at North Woods Village, Kokomo.

Born April 30, 1923, in Cass County, he was the son of Harry C. and Edith Noble Mohler and the late William Henry, his step-father, who raised him as a son.

On March 18, 1950, he was married to Rose Lombardi, who survives.

George was retired from Midwest Plating Company. He also owned and operated Mohler’s Auto Salvage.

George served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 3790. He had also been a member of the former Logansport Eagles.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, the Logansport Knights of Columbus and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

George was nicknamed the “Mayor of Bucktown”.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Debra (John) Farrer, William “Bill” (Sherry) Mohler, Levia “Dede” (Bob) Rhea, and Teresa (Jeff) Gipson, all of Logansport; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Manning, Galveston; also surviving are brothers, Paul “PW” (Beverly) Henry, Richard Henry, Jerry (Judy) Mohler, James Mohler, Larry Mohler; sisters, Patricia (Everett) Hinkle, Ruth Etherton, Barbara Hoover, Naomi (Carlson) Becker, and Martha (Paul) Harrington.

The surviving grandchildren are Tim Mohler, Mark (Susan) Mohler, Brock Rhea, Regina Smith, Anita Williams (Greg Onkin), Rose Mackey, Samuel (Trista) Rhea, Candice Mohler (Nathan Marocco), Megan (Daniel) Jordan, Breann (Brett) Billiard and Jeffrey (Courtney) Gipson; twenty-five great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are a son, George Mohler, Jr, and two half-sisters, Sarah Adkins and Jean Mohler.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at Kroeger Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 9:00 to 10:30 on Wednesday, also at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church.

Burial with full military honors will be accorded by the Local Veterans Honor Guard as well as uniformed members of the United States Army. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary section of Mount Hope Cemetery.
