Jack Leo Haley, age 87, Logansport, peacefully passed away from his family June 5, 2017, at Parkview Randalia Hospice, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born December 11, 1929, in Niles, Michigan, he was the son of the late Floyd Galloway and Juanita “Zeb” (Galloway) Personett. Jack graduated from Logansport High School class of 1949; joined the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He then matriculated to Purdue University graduating cum laude with a degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduation, he would eventually work many years for the U. S. Government out of Crane Naval Depot in Southern Indiana. Working on ordinance and ballistic missiles, he would, on occasion, be sent to Houston and Cape Canaveral for space launches. Jack took tremendous pride in his work, receiving commendations and subscribing, even at the end of his life, to several mechanical and aero-space magazines. His value was such that, when he was ready to retire, he had to wait six months until someone was found who could replace him.

Jack loved Purdue, generously supporting its mechanical engineering program. He was also very generous to EMMAUS and All Saints Parish. While never marrying or having children, he had great affection for his family and cousins who survive him. We knew at Christmas there would always be a gift from FIGI’s. He was also very close to Bill and Maddie Cox and their family.

Jack is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Beth Personett, niece Jane Smalley and nephew Greg and Karen Personett. He is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews. From a very early age Jack had a special relationship with the Haley family. He had a deep affection for cousins Janet Haley, Joyce Mote, J. T. and Ana Haley, Jean Ann Maroney, Elaine and Tim Kelly and Jackie and Tom Gill.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by Haley family members Leonard Sr. and Agnes, Jim and Halen, and Leonard Jr. and Charlene. He was also predeceased by grandniece Lylia Jane Personett.

In lieu of flowers, in Jack’s memory please consider a donation to one of his favorites, Purdue University, EMMAUS, 805 Spencer Street or All Saints Catholic Church 112 East Market Street.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at All Saints Catholic Church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday, also at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Clayton Thompson officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Mounty Hope Cemetery.

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
