Jack L. Hewitt, age 70, Logansport, passed away at 12:56 p.m., on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, shortly after doing what he loved--running his beagles.

Born in Logansport on April 21, 1946, he was the son of Chester and Luetta (Reinholt) Hewitt.

On July 25, 1965, in Logansport, he was married to Rebecca (Becky) Scott, who survives.  They were married 51 years.

Jack retired from Small Parts after 25 years, as a multi-slide operator.  After retirement, he continued working for Cass County at the Memorial Home.

He was a member of the Western Beagle Club and Amateur Trap Association.   A 1965 graduate of Logansport High School, he was a member of the baseball team, which won the NCC title that year.

Jack was a very loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather.

He enjoyed hunting, outdoor sports, and trapshooting with his grandson. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball.

Also surviving are daughters, Dana Kelley and Shelly (Tony) Prentice, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Bailey Kelley, Emily Prentice, and Jake Kelley; brothers, Gerald Hewitt, Kokomo, and Dallas Hewitt, Logansport; sisters, Ethel Campbell and Shirley (Jack) Hallam, all of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Harold Reinholt.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home, followed by a private family graveside burial at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cass County Clays (trapshooting team), 103 Hammon Street, Logansport, IN 46947.
