James Karl “Buddy” Dancy, 84, Logansport, passed away at 10:25 a.m., on Friday, January 12, 2018, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

On May 16, 1933 in Paris, Tenn., he was born to James Hughes Dancy and Beulah Beatrice “Bibe” Blackwood Dancy.

He was married on September 21, 1961 in Logansport to Roselee Kathryn Haugh, who preceded him in death in July 1, 1992.

Mr. Dancy was a ten-year, non-combat United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War Era.

He also served as the Food Service Director of the Logansport State Hospital for 34 years, retiring in 1994. In the 1960s, he was licensed to teach adult education food service classes, which he taught at Logansport High School.

Mr. Dancy was also a licensed realtor in the state of Indiana. He spent many years as a board member and production helper for both the Civic Players of Logansport and the Logansport Junior Civic Theater.

In earlier years, he was active in the Oak Park Masonic Blue Lodge of Montgomery, Ala., and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason at the Fort Wayne Masonic Cathedral.

After retirement, he enjoyed learning the computer and maintaining websites. He built, and was webmaster until recently, for the Grove High School site at: www.ewgrove.com, and he was graciously accepted by the Grove Class of 1952. He also maintained a genealogy website at www.dancyville.net.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Kimberly Dancy and her husband Galen Osier of Seattle, WA; son and daughter-in-law Robert Joe and Nikki Storckman of Redding, CA; grandchildren, Matt, Bobby, Geoffrey, and Katie Storckman; four special cousins, Rogina Blackwood Baker, Martha Jane Hawks Bledsoe and husband “T” Bledsoe, and Betty Duck Byrd; and several special nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, George Edward Baucum, and sisters, Peggy Jean Dancy Paschall and Mary Kay Dancy Smith.

The Dancy clan was from Dancyville, Tenn., and the little community was named after Jim's great-great-grandfather. Jim was also proud of the fact that the first Dancy in this country arrived from England in 1621 as an indentured traveler.

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, also at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Rev. Nick Robinson, officiating.

Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dancyville United Methodist Church and Cemetery, Stanton, Tenn.
