I am so sad to see that Jeannie has passed. We were neighbors on Timbercrest Dr for many years and my youngest daughter and Jeannie were BEST friends! Allison, (Ali) and Jean would often play games, go for walks on the RiverBluff Trail and go to McDonalds for a snack or dinner! Ali and I loved Jean dearly and shared many laughs and fun times. She was a wonderful friend and a great neighbor. We visited her several times in the nursing home and she truly did enjoy being there. She was such a social person and each nurse and resident was her friend! Your family was blessed to have her, and so were we! Our deepest sympathies...

I never had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Hunter, but laying eyes on her sweet young picture, I felt as though I had. I do know her son, Mac McNaught, and if their almost identical appearance belies what is inside, I can tell you that, like her son, she was a wonderful person. All that intelligence, patience, hard work, and goodness doesn't float on a breeze...it comes from our mothers. She must have been a remarkable lady indeed. Every condolence, every thought and prayer are yours, Mac. I am so sorry I heard the sad news so late. Of course we know she is happy and healthy and free as a bird and with you all forever.
Love,
Sally

Aunt Jean didn't need to drink from the Fountain of Youth. She personified it. She was a role model for our entire family as a giving, optimistic, community-minded person who never lacked for a positive outlook or joie de vivre. It could be said she never met a stranger.
One of the iconic images of her was once depicted in the Indianapolis Star magazine -- a little girl, standing in front of the family general store and post office in Lincoln, Ind., during the Depression. She grew up during some of the worst of times but she lived her life to make and enjoy the best of times, particularly with her family. She loved people and people loved her, and that is perhaps the greatest lesson any of us can learn from her.
Along with her brothers, she moved to Logansport after her father passed away in 1936. She knew what is was like first to lose her father at a young age and then to raise two sons, one of whom became a law enforcement officer and the other an attorney. She cherished grandchildren and relatives and was loyal to not only her high school chums, but to her church and personal causes, not the least of which was reaching out to those who needed a friend or could use a dinner companion. She won a Good Neighbor Award, and if there had been a Great Neighbor Award, she probably would have won that, too.
She always looked at people as glasses half full and not half empty. We may have lost her last week, but those of us who knew her were treated to someone who knew how to live life and didn't measure her happiness in dollars or possessions. We weren't cheated by only knowing her for 94 years. She gave us gifts for many lifetimes.

I knew Jean since I was a little girl. She always kept me company, and seen to my needs whenever I and my parents visited her house. 1 thing I remember is her giving me either $5.00 or 10.00 as a gift. I also remember going out to eat with her to different restaurants. I visited her off and on while she was at Woodbridge. Sometimes I wondered if she remembered me. The last time I went to visit was a month or so ago and asked her if she remembered me, she said yes so that gave me comfort. She will be forever missed by me. I love you Jean you are in Good hands now with Jesus.

Mac, Sarah, and family,

Please receive our sincere condolences. May God comfort you and keep you.

Aunt Jean was a cheery, bright light to all those who were privileged to know her. She was always happy, thankful, appreciative regardless of where she was or with whom she was. An inspiration and blessing sent from Heaven and now returned.
We will all miss her and look forward to seeing her again when we see the rest of our family who have gone to our Heavenly home.

Love and prayers,
Anita Kitchell (Bill) and Family
