Josephine Elizabeth (Newby) Flinn
August 26, 1923 ~ September 22, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years OldJosephine Elizabeth Flinn, age 94, Logansport, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born August 26, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Harry and Winifred VanBuskirk Newby.
On February 20, 1947, in Logansport, she was married to Harold Eugene Flinn, who preceded her in death on August 23, 2002.
A graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, she was a first lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Corps, serving in World War II.
Jo was retired in 1986 from the Logansport State Hospital after 30 years of employment.
She was a member of the Olde Towne Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR will conduct a Memorial Service at 12:55 p.m. on Monday, just prior to the funeral.
Jo was proud of being a member of the Logansport Women’s Softball Team that won the state final championship game in the 1940s.
Surviving are daughters, Pamela Kindem (Dave Rhodes), Karen Leazenby and Patricia (Terry) Knapp and a son, Michael Newby (Janet) Flinn, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Andrea Leazenby, Brian Flinn, Michelle (Mike) Anders, Stephanie Hardesty and Nicholas Knapp.; great grandchildren, Hannah Leazenby and Ender Frame.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Anders officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in Legion Circle at Mount Hope Cemetery.
