Lois Margaret Keeler, 88, Logansport, passed away due to heart disease complications on Monday afternoon, August 1, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born April 8, 1928, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Fetters) Siegfried.  As a young boy in 1911, her father Joseph emigrated with his parents and siblings from Colmar, France, through Ellis Island, New York, and he later became an independent building contractor in the Lafayette area.  One of Lois's fond travel adventures in 1997 was visiting the historic Notre-Dame de Dusenbach Pilgrimage Church in Ribeauville (Alsace), France, especially since a portion of the church was reconstructed by her Grandfather Siegfried several years before emigrating with his family to America.

After graduating from St. Francis High School and a local business school in Fort Wayne, Lois worked at the Ross Gear and Tool Company.  Later in life, Lois returned to the workforce and was employed by the Logansport K-Mart store as a payroll manager until her retirement in 1998.  While her health permitted until the past year, she greatly enjoyed getting together with her fellow St. Francis classmates for monthly brunches.  Lois was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing accessories for special family occasions as well as volunteering her time to sew overnight bags and blankets for children's services and homeless shelters.

She married John Edward Keeler on September 12, 1953.   He preceded her in death in 1977 as the result of a work accident.  John and Lois had three children, Edward (Marilyn) Keeler of Camden, Pamela Clem of Logansport, and Joseph (Kristina) Keeler of Logansport.

Lois was a loving grandmother to her 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Lois had three sisters, including Anita Strother-Lewnard (deceased) of Lafayette, Marilyn (Paul) Munier of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sue (Larry) Mortsolf of Beavercreek, Ohio.  She was also a fond aunt to her many nieces and nephews.  Lois will be sorely missed by all her family and friends.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5th, 2016, with Fr. Dominic Petan officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Calvary Section of Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9075 N. Meridian St., Suite 150, Indianapolis 46260 or the American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka 46545.
