Melvin L. Nickels, age 48, Logansport, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born July 27, 1970, in Logansport, he was the son of Elige and Elizabeth Harris Nickels.
Melvin had been employed at Kauffman Engineering.
He loved to dance and dress in stylish clothing. He also loved Michael Jackson music and enjoyed watching Bruce Lee movies. He knew the dialogue of every movie and his favorite was “Enter the Dragon”.
Melvin attended the Greater Mount Zion Apostolic Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Wanda Brown Carson (Joseph), Columbia, MD and Connie Smith, Phoenix, AZ; three nieces, Arianna Carson, Keona Bryant and Shamika Lewis; one great niece and three great nephews.
His birth mother, Mary Pearl Brown, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Melvin’s Life will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Boards officiating.
The visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the funeral.
Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
