Barbara Jean Havens Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce that Barbara Jean Havens (Wilson), age 86, formerly of Logansport, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 5, 2021, due to cancer. She was born in Logansport to Ralph O. Wilson and Helen M. Wilson on March 10, 1935.

Barbara resided in Spring, Texas after retiring from Indiana Bell, AT&T & Southwestern Bell. She started as a telephone operator and worked her way up to the Engineering Department and remained working there for 31 years.

Once she retired from the telephone company, she relocated to Spring, Texas and begin working for Harris County Toll Road Authority for 4 years. She loved working there, meeting people and made lifetime friendships with coworkers.

Barbara graduated from Logansport High School in 1952.

She was a Lifetime Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and active member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Union in Logansport, Bloomington, Kokomo, Carmel & Indianapolis within the state of Indiana.

Barbara loved to dance, loved auto racing and spending time with AJ Foyt & family. She also had a passion for loving and taking care of animals. Her beloved dogs include Sandy, Sir Barkley, Macho, Bozley and Bailey. Her beloved cats include Mr. Boots, GrayC, Cutie, BJ and the nine baby kittens she was taking care of and raising.

Her pride and joy was for her only child, Kevin Michael Wilson for his love; loyalty to family and friends including her everlasting love for her friend, Keith Hinkle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph O. Wilson and Helen M. Wilson, and her two brothers, Lawrence Eugene Wilson and James R. Wilson.

Barbara is survived by Kevin M. Wilson, son, Kimberly M. Wilson, daughter-in-law, Joann Wilson, sister-in-law, and two nieces, Marla Wilson & Angie Dixon and the entire Wilson family members.

She richly blessed our family with her generosity, kindness, sense of humor and constant love and support and she will be deeply missed.

Please join us for Barbara’s visitation on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Kroeger Funeral Home, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM.

Barbara’s graveside service and final resting place will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Rev. Ken Smith will officiate the service.
