Diane O. Quillen Obituary

Due to COVID-19 risks, masks are required to be worn at the funeral home.

Diane O. Quillen, age 86, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Woodbridge Health Campus.

Diane was born March 18, 1934, in Ottawa, IL, to Oscar Melland and Viola (Secrest) Melland (Gibson).

On January 11, 1953, Diane married Billy Quillen; they were married for thirty-one years until his death in 1984.

Diane loved many things to include her family, spending time with her nieces and nephews, a big brick house on Michigan Avenue, bacon-fried rice from China Lane, schnauzers, wind chimes, Diet Coke, and she was a member of VFW Post #3790.

But, Oh Boy! Did she love bowling?! In 1962, Diane began working and bowling in many leagues at Bowlmor Lanes (later named Myers Sport Bowl), and she worked there for over fifty years. Diane was elected as Director of the Logansport Women’s Bowling Association in 1964 and President of the association in 1966. She held that position for 25 years. Diane was elected to the Women’s Indiana State Bowling Association as a director in 1975 and served in that position until her retirement in 1989. Diane was elected as an Honorary Member of the WISBA Hall of Fame in 1992 and again for Meritorious Service in 1993. Diane was truly a great ambassador for the sport of bowling for 60 plus years, and she will be deeply missed.

Diane is survived by her brother, Paul (Pat) Cotner of Monticello, IN; four of her five children, Debra (David) Schoenradt of Greentown, IN; Steve – the only child of Diane’s to bowl a perfect 300 – (Karen) Quillen of Simpsonville, SC; Jackie (Mark) Swisher of Winnebago, IL; Becky (Jan) Faassen of Tega Cay, SC; and a son-in-law, Don (Gerri) Wilfong of Logansport.

Diane excelled at making beef and noodles, playing cards, all things bowling, and extreme stubbornness, but mostly she excelled at being a grandmother. Diane leaves behind 15 grandchildren. In order, they are Heather, Jason, Stephanie, Aries, Shannon, Michael Steven, Byron, Michael Ryan, Erin, Shea, Kelly, Stacey, Katelyn, Jacqueline, and Jennifer. It is still uncertain who was her favorite, as she claimed not to have one, but we all have our guess as to who claimed the top spot. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. Every single one of them is going to miss her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Diane was predeceased by a sister, June Cotner, and her beloved daughter, Gerri Lynn.

The visitation will be on July 18, 2020, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home, followed by the Celebration of Life with Rev. Dirk Raderstorf officiating.

Due to COVID-19 risks, masks are required to be worn at the funeral home.

Following the service everyone is invited to join the family at Myers Sport Bowl East for food and refreshments.

Private Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Cass County Humane Society, 700 Water Street, Logansport 46947, or call your grandma and tell her that you love her. Either works.
