Donald J. Baldini

Donald J. Baldini, 82, Logansport, died peacefully on June 9, 2021, at McKinney Place.

 Don was born September 17, 1938, in Logansport to the late Gordon and Madolyn (Venice) Baldini.

 He had his first date with his future wife at Indiana Beach on July 4, 1959.  He married the love of his life on June 10, 1961, Janet Young, who preceded him in death on January 23, 2005.

 A 1956 graduate of Logansport High School, he graduated from Indiana State University in 1963, then received his Master’s Degree from Ball State University. Don went on to become a teacher at several schools and ended up teaching and coaching football at Logansport High School.  He was the head football coach at LHS for 17 years.  There is a traveling football trophy named after Coach Baldini which goes between Logansport and Peru.

 He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage, loved working on his family tree and collecting family photos.  Don loved his family more than anything.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to the river to swim.  He loved telling stories and always wanted to make people laugh.  He especially loved the Sunday family spaghetti dinners.

 Don is survived by his children, Greg Baldini (Julie), Logansport, Dani Hartley (Brian), Peru, Chris Baldini, Monticello, and Mike Baldini (Jada), Logansport.

 Also surviving are grandchildren, Logan Baldini (Jill), Flandreau, SD, Maddy Barrett (Zach), Kokomo, Mallory Baldini, Austin, TX, Gabi Dwiggins (Kyle), Kokomo, Ali Hartley, Nashville, TN, Bree Baldini, Monticello, Alexis Baldini, Monticello, Jared Baldini, Lafayette, Elliott Baldini, Logansport, and Ariya and Aziya Baldini, Logansport;  great granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Baldini, Flandreau, SD; brother, Jerry Baldini, Logansport, sister-in-law, Margaret Scripter (Charley) Apache Junction, AZ; brother-in-law, Larry Young, Delphi; several nieces, nephews and his very special friend for many years, Bonnie Jones, Kokomo.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Young) Baldini; his parents, Gordon and Madolyn (Venice) Baldini; infant twin brothers, James and John Baldini; and sister-in-law Susie (Long) Baldini.

 The visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021, and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, prior to the service, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

 The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Vernon officiating.

 Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
