Dorothy Woodling Obituary

From Dorothy Woodling's daughter, Barbara: Published at her request.

I want to thank Paul Kroeger and Jim Crain for taking care of everything.

I appreciate my son for his strength, Barb and David Herman for their unlimited support, the wonderful people at WoodBridge who cared for mom, the Ingmire girls (Connie & Debbie) who from the kindness of their hearts brought flowers and friendship to my mother while I was so far away.

The condolences from the website have humbled me.

My cousin Cheryl and sister-in-law Christy have taken care of me, too.

Life is good.

Dorothy Woodling, age 95, Logansport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born Tuesday, June 7, 1927, in Logansport, Dorothy Evelyn was the daughter of Joseph L. and Belle Grauel Graffis. (Joe Graffis was Chief of the Logansport Fire Department for many years.)

Dorothy’s twin sisters were Marilyn Hinkle (husband, Roy) and Carolyn Tutewiler (husband, Jack). Carolyn and Jack had a daughter, Sarah. All have preceded Dorothy in death.

Dorothy married Robert Eugene Woodling in 1954. He was a widower with two daughters, Nancy and Barbara. Bob passed away in 1999.

Nancy cared for Dorothy from 2016 until her own death in September of 2021.

Surviving are Barbara Baker (husband, Gary), and her grandson, Gary Robert Baker, all of Las Vegas. Also surviving is a kind and fun cousin, Ray Gotshall, Indianapolis.

Dorothy was a seventy-five year member of the Royal Center Chapter #375, Order of Eastern Star.

She was one of the founding members of the Logansport Elkettes. In earlier years she volunteered in the Memorial Hospital gift shop as a member of the Mary Dykeman Guild.

She and her husband loved golfing and Dorothy played with many friends until she was 89 years old.

What started as a sorority after high school turned into a card club that lasted her lifetime.

She had attended Main Street United Methodist Church.

No public services will be held. A private interment in Mount Hope Cemetery will take place at a later date.
