Leonard O. 'Pete' Hall, Jr. Obituary

Leonard O. 'Pete'' Hall, Jr. age 73, Walton, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in his residence.

Pete's visitation will be at Kroeger Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 14, 2020, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Ken Smith officiating.

Interment with full military detail honors will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Born in Logansport on November 11, 1946, he was the son of Leonard O. Hall, Sr. and Justine Snyder Hall.

Pete served in the United States Air Force beginning January 21, 1966 until his retirement from the Reserves on November 1, 1992.   He was stationed in Bangkok, Thailand during the Vietnam War where his crew was awarded the Wing Load Crew of the Quarter in 1967.

After his active service ended with an Honorable Discharge, he then served in the Air Force Reserves at Grissom Air Force Base until his retirement as Master Sergeant in 1992.

In 1987, Pete was named the 930 Tactical Fighter Group Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.   Anyone who knew Pete, knew he was a proud veteran having honorably served his country.

At home, Pete loved technology and completed various electronic circuit application and fundamental electronic courses at DeVry Institute of Technology.   In the late 70’s, he loved working on his TRS-80 which was the earliest mass-produced retail home computer and building his own console TV.   In his later years, you could find Pete watching reruns of M*A*S*H, Hogan's Heroes or one of his all-time favorite movies, Patton.

Pete was a quiet and honorable man with a dry sense of humor and, when younger, a love of warm Budweiser.   He loved his family and was deeply loved in return.   Our loss is immeasurable.

Pete was blessed to have family who lived nearby to take him to appointments, bring him food, and make his apartment a cozy place where he spent his final days. Special thanks to Kerrie and Dave Morris, Nicole Snyder, Tom and Kathy Newport, and Tara Emmerling for their love.

Surviving are daughters, Darcie Hall (Jerry) Whitaker, and Deanne Hall, both of Carmel; granddaughter, Ruby Hall, Carmel; and brother, Guy Hall. Also surviving is Connie Hall, who is the mother of his children, and her husband and Pete’s good friend, Marvin Stout, along with several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Carolyn Hall Bauman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Military Honor Guard, c/o Mick Jacks, 53 S US 35, Logansport, 46947.
