Marjorie L. Bishop Obituary

Marjorie L. Bishop, 93, Logansport, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born in Logansport on February 10, 1927, she was the daughter of John H. and Ruth (Grauel) Heckard.

On March 4, 1951, in Calvary Presbyterian Church, she was married to James R. Bishop, who preceded her in death on September 29, 2005.

Marge was a 1945 graduate of Logansport High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1949.

Early on, she taught Home Economics, Biology, General Science, and Health & Physical Education at Grass Creek School.  From 1952 to 1953, she taught biology at the Midwest City Oklahoma High School.  She then came to the Logansport Community School Corporation where she taught adult Education from 1960-1964, then she taught Home Economics at Logansport High School from 1965 until her retirement in 1985.

Marge was a member of the Cass County Retired Teachers, Indiana State Retired Teachers, and Calvary Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed sewing and reading.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you and appreciation to the staff at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Surviving are son, Ted M. (Cindy) Bishop, Franklin; daughter: Susan L. Lambert, Valparaiso; sister, Mary Margaret Powlen, Hagerstown, Maryland; grandchildren, Ashely (Ted) Davidson, Franklin, Ambry (Tony) Santillo, Boonton, New Jersey; great grandchildren, Reid and Remy Davidson; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were son-in-law, Jerry Lambert; and brother, Donald Heckard.

A private family service will be conducted with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 Spencer Street, Logansport.
