Phyllis A. Pickens Obituary

Phyllis A. Pickens, age 80, Logansport, passed away at 4:37 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born March 2, 1941, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Leonard and Anne Marie Gentile Ricci.

Phyllis was married on August 5, 1961, in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, to Kennie Pickens, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2006.

She had been employed at Garden City Supermarket.

A member of All Saints Catholic Church (formerly of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church), in earlier years Phyllis had assisted in cleaning and cooking at the St. Vincent’s rectory.

She graduated from Logansport High School in 1959, having attended St. Vincent de Paul parochial school.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, playing cards, reading mysteries and camping. She had also been a 4-H leader. Phyllis and her husband were original members of the William Paca Lodge, Sons of Italy in America.

Surviving are sons, Andy (Mary) Pickens, Logansport, Tony Pickens (Jeff Weston), Atlanta, GA; daughters, Kristina (Craig) Dunham, Kokomo, Julie (Joe) Mueller, New York; brothers, Lenny (Sandy) Ricci, Logansport, Dominic Ricci, Logansport; sister, Barb (Ron) Kiser, Kokomo.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jessica Mueller, Jennifer (Cody) Wells, Joey Mueller, April (Noah) Morris, Lucas Pickens; a number of nieces and nephews.

A brother, Nick Ricci, preceded her in death.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4th, at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Adam Mauman officiating.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home. A William Paca Lodge memorial service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday followed by a Scriptural Wake Service.

MASKS: When greeting the family at the funeral home and while attending the Funeral Mass, at the family's request please wear facial masks.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Suite 100, 50 East 91st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
