Betty J. (Vitello) Kreighbaum

Betty J. Kreighbaum, age 85, Logansport, passed away at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018, in her residence.

Born June 4, 1933, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna LaPorta Vitello.

On August 18, 1951, in Logansport, she was married to Billy L. Kreighbaum, who preceded her in death on August 7, 1994.

Born of Italian immigrants, Betty was raised Catholic and attended St. Bridget’s Church for several years until its closure. In her later years she attended Trinity Lutheran Church.

Betty worked many years as a cook and laundress for the County Home, Holiday Inn, the Neal Home and the Children’s Home.

Betty was an extremely hard-working, fiercely independent lady who devoted her life caring for her family. Her internal strength was amazing as she endured the loss of two sons and cared for her terminally ill mother, son and husband. She will be missed immensely by her family.

Surviving are two sons, Steven A Kreighbaum and Jeffrey L. (Kathy) Kreighbaum; sister, Clara Jones, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Jessica Kreighbaum, Jennifer Kreighbaum, Shaun Kreighbaum; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Rick Kreighbaum and Ron Kreighbaum; three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, also at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry DeVos of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
