David Lee Strahlem Obituary

A military graveside service for Dave will be conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Meet at cemetery arch at 10:50 a.m. for escort.

David Lee Strahlem, age 67, Logansport, passed away at 12:57 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Friday, February 22, 1952, in Logansport, he was the son of Harry and Florence Jane Corcoran Strahlem.

On June 6, 1976, in Monticello, he was married to Jill Hornback, who survives.

A 1970 graduate of Logansport High School, Dave served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974, where he was stationed in Thailand. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3790. He attended the Chicago Trades Institute. 

Dave retired from the Cass County Highway Department after 40 years of employment including having served as superintendent.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Shannon Strahlem Sanders, Logansport; brother, John (Jean) Strahlem; sisters, Dottie (Steve) Harvey, Jane Patch, all of Logansport; grandchildren, Lexi and Zoe Sanders; many very close nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are a father-in-law, Earl Hornback; sisters-in-law, Terri Hanni and Julie Hornback, all of Monticello.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Strahlem and Mike Strahlem; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Strahlem, mother-in-law, June Hornback; and brother-in-law, Brad Hornback.

The visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, also at the funeral home.

A military graveside service for Dave will be conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Please meet at the cemetery arch at 10:50 a.m. for escort.
