Elizabeth E. (Liz, Libby) Gish, 95, passed away at 4:30 a.m., on Friday, March 23, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born on September 2, 1922, in Young America, she was the daughter of Abraham and Lottie Fry Williams.
On January 12, 1943, in Camden, she was married to Bernard Delbert (Barney) Gish, who preceded her in death after 45 years of marriage.
Libby had been employed as a telephone operator at the Gossard; a cashier, then office manager, for Great Scot Supermarkets in Terre Haute and Evansville; co-owner, with Barney, of B & L Red & White Grocery Store in Newton, Illinois; and later, a cashier at Newton IGA and Newton Parklanes.
She enjoyed fishing, reading, playing cards, word search puzzles, and sewing. Libby loved to, and did, sew hundreds of Barbie doll clothing.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton.
Surviving are son, Steve (Cathy) Gish, Evansville; daughter, Deb (Jack) Ellis, Effingham, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Betty Gish, Oblong, Ill.; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; sister, Jean Meek, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding Libby in death are son, Terry, seven brothers, and five sisters.
Libby will be cremated, with a graveside service in Westlawn Memorial Park in Newton, Ill., at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 31, 2018, with Reverend Steve Willis officiating.
