Ova C. Huff, 96, Logansport, passed away at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, June 25, 2018, in McKinney Place.
Born on March 11, 1922, he was the son of James and Margaret Maloney Huff
On June 26, 1943, in Salina, Kansas, he was married to Mary Louise Pesaresi, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2016. They were married before he was sent overseas to war, where he was in the 94th Infantry Division. His squadron was captured in Germany and he spent the next nine months as a prisoner of war in Stalag 11-B.
After the war he worked for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles administering driving tests. He then chose his career as an electrician working out of IBEW Local 668 in Lafayette.
Ova was an accomplished woodworker. He lovingly made many pieces of furniture, dollhouses and decorative items. He was happiest in his garage, working on a project.
Ova was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; brother, William, sisters, Betty and Thelma; and a granddaughter, Mindy Singley.
Surviving are son, James (Gail) Huff, Morgantown; daughter, Connie (Don) Tribbett, Logansport; grandchildren, Dana (Troy) Zimmerman, Melissa (Brad) Sommers, Jennifer (Bryan) Kistler, and Jason (Jennifer) Huff, all of Logansport, and Corey (Katie) Gullion and Caroline Gullion, both of Chicago; twelve great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at McKinney Place. You made Dad truly feel at home. You are all special, loving people. We were fortunate to have you in our lives.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, in All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Jeff Martin officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Mount Calvary section of Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home.
