Ruth Ann (Ruthie) D’Andrea, age 87, Fort Wayne, formerly of Logansport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 4, 2017, in Fort Wayne.

She was born in Logansport to Clarence E. and Carrie L. Martin Jackson on November 17, 1929.

Ruth Ann married Joseph L. D’Andrea on March 6, 1949. They had two children, Jo Ann (Jody) and Daniel Joseph. They divorced and she married Donald Anson in Fort Wayne on November 26, 1970. He passed away in November, 1992. She and Joe were remarried on January 23, 1996, on Jody’s birthday.

A 1947 graduate of Logansport High School, Ruth Ann went to work in Logansport at General Telephone Company as a Clerk/Teller and later as a Service Representative. She was promoted into management in April, 1968, and was relocated to Fort Wayne. In the following years, she received six promotions and moved to three different cities in Indiana and three in Texas. She retired in November, 1992, from the position of National Trouble Shooter for the Centralized Mail Department in Thousand Oaks, Calif. In 1987 she received the honor of Outstanding Employee of General Telephone North.

She was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, having been President of the All Saints Ladies Society for two terms and Secretary for two terms. She was also Chairman of the Funeral Dinner Committee for eight years. Her most cherished activity was being a Eucharistic Minister. Ruth Ann was also the unofficial Church seamstress, embroidering children’s names on First Communion Banners for many years.

Ruth Ann loved to bowl, having had numerous high 600 series and carried an average of 187 in 1987, the final year she bowled.

She was an avid card player and flower gardener, creating beautiful gardens at each of the homes in which she lived.  She and Joe enjoyed finding and planting new species of flower plants.

Ruth Ann had been an active volunteer for the Emmaus Mission Center and Birthright of Cass County. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the William Paca Lodge.

Ruth Ann is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann 'Jody' (Jan) Sircey, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Erin Heishman, Eric Heishman, Joe D’Andrea, Cole D’Andrea and Peter D’Andrea; eight great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Deloris (Kitty) Jackson, Grace D’Andrea and Pat Munson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Joe D’Andrea, son, Daniel D’Andrea, sister, Mary Engel, and four brothers, Paul Jackson, Earl Jackson, Wayne Jackson and Jim Jackson.

Regardless of all her achievements, her greatest love was her family. She was always there for them emotionally and physically whenever and wherever needed.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th, at Kroeger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday in the Parish Hall at All Saints.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County SPCA, 4919 S. Hanna Street, Fort Wayne 46806.
