Thomas Barkas Obituary

Thomas E. Barkas, 45, Logansport, passed away at 12:14 p.m., on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

Born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 11, 1973, he was the son of Nick Barkas and Sharon Eskew Patton.  His mother and step-father, Darrold Patton, survive in Logansport.

Tom was self-employed in construction, with Barkas Contracting.

He loved anything Indiana University sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and watching ESPN.  He enjoyed playing golf and loved following his nieces and nephews in their sporting activities.

A passionate family man, he had a big heart and would do anything for his family.  He was strong in his faith.

Also surviving are daughter, Ashley Barkas, Dover, New Hampshire; grandson, Joseph Corain; step-mother, Diana Barkas, Morehead City, North Carolina; brothers, George (Lori) Barkas, Logansport, and Michael Barkas, Morehead City; sisters, Irene (Estill) Maddox, West Lafayette, Barbara (Josh) Frechette, Morehead City, and Nicolina (Bruta) Murrell, Beaufort, North Carolina; aunt, Nora (John Paul) Knox, Logansport; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Nick Barkas, he was preceded in death by sister, Deborah Barkas; and nephew, Jacob Steineman.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, June 25, 2018, also at the funeral home, with Fr. Andrew Walsh of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Fort Wayne, officiating.

Interment will follow in Clymers Cemetery.
