Thomas "Tom" Alan Rogers, 70 of Logansport, Indiana passed away peacefully Tuesday April 2, 2019, at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Tom was born November 17, 1948 in Logansport to Alfred "Ike" Rogers and Mildred "Jayne" Rogers. He graduated from the old Logansport High School in 1967, and went on to Indiana State University where he earned his BS in Physical Education and History in 1972. He earned his master degree in Education in 1977.
On July 20, 1974, Tom and Maraline Vest were married in Fowler, Indiana.
They raised six children: Patricia (Tom) Spitznogle of Peru, IN, Erin Rogers of Chicago, IL, Christine (Keith Black) Rogers of Logansport, Katherine Rogers of Portland, OR, Peter (Rachel) Rogers of Logansport, and Elizabeth (Justin McDaniel) Rogers of Clarks Hill, IN.
Tom was very active in Logansport. He was a life-long Boy Scout, working with Troop #2, and also assisted with local Girl Scout troops. He enjoyed camping and canoeing, especially in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota.
Tom served the Logansport Community School Corporation as a substitute teacher, special education teacher, coach, football game videographer, and with his wife Maraline, managed concession stands for 24 years.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where he served as an athletic coordinator and PE teacher for the school. He also served as an usher, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom worked with the Children's after-school program at the Cass County Family YMCA and assisted in summer day camps. Tom always had a joke and a smile and truly enjoyed serving his community.
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years and six children; seven grandchildren, William and Jensen Spitznogle of Peru, IN, Evan, Cecilia, and Joel Rogers of Logansport, IN, and Logan and Aubrey McDaniel, of Clarks Hill, IN; cousins Jim (Thelma) Conrad of Logansport, IN, and Marsha Conrad, Florida, and many cousins in Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his aunt. Lucille Rafferty.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, April 6, 2019, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Jeff Martin officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 5th from 5-8 pm at Kroeger Home.
The rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm, also at the funeral home. An additional one hour visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 am in the Parish Hall prior to the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church and the Sagamore Council Boy Scouts of America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
