William D. Finks Obituary

Heaven welcomed William D. Finks, 82, Logansport, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, after battling PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) for the past few years.

Born in Logansport on November 5, 1936, he was the son of William C. and Loda (McVay) Finks.

He was a 1954 graduate of Logansport High School.

Bill loved his family life which began over 61 years ago when on January 24, 1958, in the Metea Baptist Church, Bill married the love of his life Janet E. (Frank), who survives.

Bill was a life-long brick mason. He started his profession in his teen years and later co-founded and co-owned F&S Masonry. For over 50 years he was a self-employed Gold Card member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 4. Bill’s handiwork can be viewed on many buildings throughout Cass County.

Bill and generations of his family were members of Center Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee.  Bill’s masonry skills were put to good use on 2 different renovations to improve and expand the church.

Bill’s passion for giving back to the community included serving as a board member at Peak Community Services; performing as a past board member at the Cass County Historical Society; membership of Elks Lodge #66, and a past member of the American Legion Post 60.

Bill was a generous person always ready to serve those in need. He dearly loved his family, as well as his dogs. Many people in Logansport and surrounding communities knew him and he enjoyed conversations with them all.

He loved the outdoors, including camping, deer hunting, horses, and mushroom hunting.

Bill and Janet never met a stranger as their travels took them to all 50 states and beyond.

Also surviving are son, Gregory Finks  (Jill Nolte), Twelve Mile; daughters, Leanne Bohac (Ron Bunger), Logansport and Beth (Perry) Nethercutt, Logansport; five grandchildren, Amanda (Felix) Rosa, West Palm Beach, FL; Ryan (Kelly) Nethercutt, Katie Bohac, Nathan Nethercutt (Alexis Deeter), and Kyle Bohac (Kami Tocco), all of Logansport; six great grandchildren, Raelyn, Reed and Rori Nethercutt, Jackson Upton, Layton Deeter, and Kohen Bohac; and sister, Nancy (Bob) Montgomery, Plainfield.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents and his brother, Kenneth Carl Finks.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 2:30 pm at Center Presbyterian Church located at 8157 West County Road 250 N, Royal Center IN, with Pastor Monte Adams officiating.  All are invited to attend and share stories of the many antics of the life of Bill Finks.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center Presbyterian Church.
