Barbara Ann Hiatt Obituary

Barbara Ann Donley Hiatt, age 86, passed away peacefully at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018, in her home in Logansport. She was surrounded by her family.

Born November 20, 1931, at St. Joseph Hospital in Logansport to Glen and Margaret Hassett Donley, Barbara attended St. Vincent Grade School and graduated from Logansport High School in 1949. She attended Ball State University.

She was married to John H. Hiatt by Rev. John P. Schall at St. Vincent Catholic Church on August 25, 1951. Mrs. Hiatt was a homemaker.

She worked temporarily as a proofreader for the Pharos Tribune and was a teacher’s aide for the Logansport School Corporation. She was a past co-president of the St. Vincent Home and School Association and a Girl Scout Leader.

Her interests included fishing, swimming, golf, and she was an avid crossword puzzle worker.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Michele (Robert) Johnson, Carroll County; sons, Joe (Christine) Hiatt, Jim (Lorie) Hiatt, Tim Hiatt, Logansport; and Bill (Sindy) Hiatt, Pensacola, FL.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her sister, Patricia Miller.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Hiatt, and her sister, Mary Margaret Leslie.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. immediately prior to the funeral on Thursday.

Private full burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery following the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
