Billy Wayne “Bill” Bixler, age 87, Logansport, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born March 12, 1933, in Fulton County, he was the son of James Franklin and Altha Stanchfield Bixler.
He married April 12, 1953, in Portland, Indiana, to Deloris E. Barger, who survives.
Bill was retired from the signal department after 43 years of employment with the railroad, Pennsylvania, Penn Central and later, Conrail.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion Walton Post 418 and the Rochester Moose Manitou Lodge #1107.
He enjoyed woodworking, doing picture puzzles, lawn care, electronics and working on automobiles, where he was meticulous about details.
While in the military stationed at Fort Carson, he was a snow skiing instructor in the winter months and a rock-climbing instructor in the summer months.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Bradley Alan (Kathy) Bixler, Logansport; grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Bixler, Brandon Bixler, Justin (Megan) Bixler and Ryan Bixler; great grandson, Rawling Bixler; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceding in death were a son, Richard Wayne Bixler; four sisters and three brothers.
A public graveside service, with full military honors provided by uniformed members of the United Sates Army, will be held later with burial in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
