Brian Lee Roberts

Brian Roberts was born on September 7, 1969 in Keokuk, Iowa. He was the youngest son of Daryle and Barbara (Morris) Roberts.  Brian was raised in Luray, Missouri, but spent much of his adolescent years in Mount Sterling, Iowa with his grandma Morris and many of his cousins.

Brian graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1987 and later that year jointed the Marine Corps where he was stationed in San Diego, California.  After the Marines, Brian began his career at IBP in Columbus Junction, Iowa where he met Karyn. Together, they moved to Logansport, Indiana and were married on October 13, 2000, but were later divorced. Together, they had one daughter, Malia. 

Shortly after Malia was born, Brian enrolled at Colorado Technical University where he earned his Associates Degree Brian worked as an Assistant Vice President of the Food and Beverage Division at Zee Chemical, Chattanooga, Tennessee. His job required him to travel all over the United States, which he mostly loved because he enjoyed discovering new things and meeting new people.

Brian enjoyed taking Malia on vacations to experience some of the places he had discovered while traveling for work, but he especially relished all of their trips to Walt Disney World.  He loved watching Malia play sports, especially AAU basketball. He attended ALL of her sporting events when he was not traveling for work.  Brian and Malia had a special connection over their love of beating the other at games like Risk, Monopoly, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.  Brian also loved to watch movies, listen to audio books (while traveling), read an immense amount of comic books and playing PinBall.

Surviving are a daughter, Malia; sister, Erica; aunt, Carol; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brian’s brother, Jim Roberts, is deceased.

The Celebration of Brian’s Life is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 99 Second Street, Columbus Junction, Iowa 52738.
