Carol Gremelspacher Cossairt Holden Obituary

On January 11, 2023, Carol Krantz Holden entered Heaven.

Carol was born on February 8, 1947, to Patricia (Shaver) and William Krantz in Logansport. She graduated from Saint Bridget’s Catholic School and Logansport High School. She embraced the role of big sister to her four younger siblings.

While working at B&K West, Carol met Philip Gremelspacher, and they married in 1966, and they had three children together. She loved living in the county and being a farm housewife. She enjoyed planting a huge garden and canning the vegetables it produced.

Carol was very involved in her children’s lives; from attending field trips, being a room mom and serving as the Little League president while son Chris played.

After 20 years Carol rejoined the workforce. She held two full-time jobs, working over 80 hours a week. She loved working at Walmart, her friends and customers made it enjoyable. Working at Federal Mogul gave her a chance to learn new skills, such as; operating machines, reading calipers and operating a forklift - she proudly hung her forklift license on the refrigerator door for her children to see. Carol retired from both Federal Mogul and Walmart, having worked at each for 20 years. During this time, she met Eldon Cossairt (1996) on a blind date and enjoyed being married to him until his sudden passing.

She married the love of her life, Dale Holden, in 2008 and moved to his hometown of Anderson, Indiana. Carol was quick to make friends, and Carol and Dale loved being active in their church, where she served on the Board of Directors, cofounding and maintaining a prayer walk and it became her passion to serve other families during their grief through the church funeral dinners.

Carol loved her family without limit, and nothing meant more to her than spending time with them, especially if she was cooking very large meals on the spur of the moment. She especially loved traveling with her sister, Bridget; they were perfect travel partners and best friends. Every spring Carol could be found in the woods with Bridget and daughter Kelly, mushroom hunting. Carol had a keen eye for finding the best of the mushrooms. Carol enjoyed cooking with her son Andy and sharing the family history of the recipes with him.

She will be greatly missed by her friends and family; however, they are comforted knowing she is home in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Carol is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Kelly Evans (fiancé Adrian Rising-Moore) grandson Taylor Tattersall; son Chris (Monica) Gremelspacher and grandsons Micah, Nathan and Luke Gremelspacher; son Andy (Christy) Gremelspacher grandchildren, Kiera Gremelspacher, Matthew Titus, Jennifer Titus and great grandson Marston Gremelspacher and a great granddaughter coming in March.

Carol was blessed with bonus children when she married Dale and loved them as her own. Rick (Susie) Holden, grandchildren, Jeremy, Tiara (Austin) and Shea Holden, great grandchildren, Jayden Coble, Sophie, Emma and Brantley Alspaugh; Jason (Michelle) Holden, grandchildren, Kenzie (Jared) Holden and Kara Holden, great grandson Carter Grey; Cathy Redway, grandson, Camaro Howell; Michael Anthony and granddaughter Grace Anthony.

Also surviving are her brothers, Mark (Vicki) Krantz and Gary Krantz; sisters, Debby (Charlie) Hastings and Bridget (Kevin) Davis and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great nieces whom she loved dearly. Carol is also survived by her mother-in-law, Georgia Holden.
