Carolyn M. Witham, age 81, formerly of Star City, passed away at 3:02 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Miller’s Merry Manor.
Born November 19, 1943, in Pulaski, Indiana, she was the daughter of Harry Joseph and Iva Lucile Degner Roth.
She was married August 18, 1967, in Pulaski, Indiana, to James M. Witham, who preceded her in death August 11, 2020.
Mom found strength in God and could often be seen praying the rosary while outdoors enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. She loved seeing how many deer she could spot. Neighbors would catch her speeding down her country gravel road in her electric wheelchair, which she often overestimated to be an ATV. Grandkids loved riding on the battery box on the back of her chair, sometimes tickling her neck ‘til she was laughing too hard to steer.
Surviving are a daughter, Renee (Dick) Sholty; four grandchildren, Brandilyn Sholty, Caleb Sholty, Hayden Schambers, Taylor Brockett; brothers, Harold “Sonny” (Patty) Roth, Richard “Bub” (Sandy) Roth, Robert (Kathy) Roth; sister, Rebecca (Chuck) Zellers; sister-in-law, Patricia “Peach” Roth; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Patsy Ann Shoemaker, Mary Lea Sass, Margaret “Peggy” Burzinski; one brother, William R. Roth; daughter, Tiffany Witham; grandson, Austin Crawford.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8th, at St. Joseph’s Church, Pulaski, Indiana, with Father Anthony Rowland officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass in the church.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery (South), Pulaski.
