Chaz Fackler Obituary

We are saddened to say that beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, Chaz Fackler, passed away in his home in Logansport, Indiana on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018.

Chaz was born in Burlington, New Jersey and completed his primary education in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, but moved to Vail in the early 1980’s and lived in the valley through the early 1990’s. Through his many years as a Lift Mechanic for Vail Resorts, he became fondly known as “Gondola Chaz”. He was also a part-time bartender at the Sundance Saloon in Lionshead. Chaz loved life in the Vail Valley and was an avid skier.  He was fun-loving, kind, and made a multitude of friends in the Vail area.

Chaz gave life to two sons in Vail, Cody and Justin, with his first wife, Gretchen where they continued to raise their children for several years.Chaz eventually moved from the valley, down to Colorado Springs. While bartending at Thunder and Buttons, he met Leanne Metzger and her family of two daughters, Heather and Allison. Chaz and Leanne had one son together, Tevan Jaeke Fackler. During his time in The Springs, he enjoyed playing Broomball with his work league, maintaining the family cars, shooting pool, and cheering for John Elway and The Broncos.

Chaz and Tevan moved to Indiana in the early 2000’s to live near his sister Sue Victor and her family, where he and Tevan resided up until his passing. Recently, Chaz went back to community college and received his Associate Degree in Information Technology. During his time at Ivy Tech Community College, he was a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society where he was honored with a Distinguished Chapter Member Award for his dedication to the Beta Gamma Zeta Chapter.

Chaz is preceded in death by his father, William Fackler Sr, and Tevan’s mother, Leanne Metzger. He is survived by his Mother Jan, from Florida; his three sons, Cody (Brittany), Justin and Tevan; his identical twin brother Bill (Janine) from Eagle, his sister Susan (Mark) from Indiana; nieces Kelsey, Kiley, and Carly; nephews K.C. and Jason, his four grandchildren, Chloe, Chase, Adyson and Hendrix, and his two step daughters, Allison and Heather, from Colorado Springs.

The Memorial Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
