Dona R. (Kite) Cox

Dona Rae (Kite) Cox passed away peacefully in her home with her loved ones by her side on May 8th, 2023.

Dona was born in Radnor, Indiana. Later, her family moved to Logansport where she was raised.  She lost her father, Claude Kite, at the early age of 15 and helped her mother, E. Pauline Kite, with caring for her other siblings, - Robert Kite, Marjorie Burton, James Kite, William Dugan Kite, and Kenneth Kite all of whom are deceased.  Dona was preceded in death by all her siblings. James’s wife, Bonnie Kite survives, and Dona and Bonnie were close friends as well as sisters-in-law.  

On November 20th, 1945, Dona married Warren (Bud) Cox and raised their family of five children. Michael Cox, James Cox, both of Logansport; Deborah (George) Graves, Monticello, Diana Ashcraft, Logansport, and Darla (Jeff)Delk Tingley.  One daughter, Darla, preceded her in death. 

Since the early 70’s Dona enjoyed attending Helm Street Church of God.  She was a member of the Choir, the Lady’s Quilting group, a Sunday school teacher for a while and helped vacation bible study, and with their locally famous Chicken Noodle suppers.

One of Dona’s first loves was her passion for music.  She enjoyed all genres.  She could be heard humming wherever she went.  She was also a huge Colts and Peyton Manning fan.  Loved playing Bingo and card games. She truly enjoyed gardening and spending time with her friends and family, especially outdoors.  She took great pleasure in visiting out west in Palm Springs with her brother Ken whenever she could.

In earlier years, Dona had been employed at several of Logansport’s legendary restaurants and food establishments, including the Ben-Hur, Harvey’s Restaurant and Bolin’s Donuts.

She was very proud of her 9 grandchildren, Andrea (Brian) Jones, Erin (Brian) Lewis, Christopher (Alisa) Cox, Joshua (Jessica) Small, Daryl (Nicole) Krueger, Shayla (Ricardo) Canseco, Brandon (Ashley) Delk, Addie Sweet and Megan (Kenny) Ashcraft.  She also enjoyed time with her step-grandchildren, - Kathy (Tommy) Runk, Dale (Synde) Graves, Jeff (Dailey) Tingley, and Devyn Tingley. 

She couldn't get enough of her 15 great-grandchildren, Gray, Delaney, Sophia, Evelyn, Emi, Gabe, Abby, Jace, Jada, Henry, Lincoln, Kadreyan, Kyree, Kobe and Lilah.  She also had many nieces and nephews of several generations.

The visitation will be from 10:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13th at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral service and celebration of Dona’s life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, also at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Cass County, next to her husband, “Bud”.
