Eris A. (Kinley) Gilliland

Eris A. Gilliland, age 96, Logansport, passed away peacefully at 10:29 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Franciscan Health East Lafayette.

Born Friday, February 18, 1926, in Deedsville (Miami County), she was the daughter of Frederick and Florence Bowen Kinley.

On July 1, 1945, Eris married Howard A. Gilliland, who preceded her in death December 1, 2001.

Eris was a graduate of Jefferson Township (Miami County) High School. During World War II she worked at Victory Ordinance in Miami County.

She had been employed at Switches (later, Federal Mogul) in Leiters Ford. She had also been employed in the cafeteria at Kewanna High School.

Eris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she was a talented musician. Eris played the piano at home daily and played at many churches throughout her life. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, reading and especially her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Gilliland, Logansport, Dinah Downhour, Kokomo, Debra Niedzelski, Plymouth; sister, Noreen Erlenbach, Vancouver, BC; daughter-in-law, Dianna Gilliland, Rochester; four grandchildren, Julie, Steven, Heather and Holly; five great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Eris was preceded in death by a son, Michael, two brothers and one sister.

The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church, 6765 E CR 800 N, Carroll County. Pastor Kristen Schmid will officiate the service.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, also at the church.

Interment is in Kewanna Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
