James E. ‘Ed’ Unger, age 76, Lucerne, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born in Cass County on March 15, 1946, he was the son of Walter R. and Carrie J. Lemmon Unger.
On May 7, 1967, in Fulton, he was married to Peggy L. Sands, who survives.
Ed was a life-long farmer. He enjoyed his summers in Wyoming, where he made many life-long friends.
He was a loving father, husband and grandfather, and enjoyed time spent with his kids and grand kids.
Also surviving, daughter, Edie (Rick) Eckelbarger; son, Chad (Kathryn) Unger; grandchildren, Chance, Kasey, and Kennedy Ault, and Ethan and Carlee Unger; great grandchild, Soren Edward Ault; special family friend, Janie Taylor; brother-in-law, Ben Sands; sisters-in-law, Sue Sands, Donna Sands, Geraldine Landes and Jo DeHaven; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Ed in death were his parents; several sisters/brothers-in-law; and an infant son.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Kroeger Funeral Home, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Barry Bowyer officiating.
Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery.
