Jerry G. Stover Obituary

Jerry G. Stover, age 79, Logansport, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born in Delphi on July 4, 1943, he was the son of Floyd and Lillian Moore Stover.

On April 4, 1964, at St. Bridget’s Church in Logansport, he was married to Rebecca J. “Becky” Timmons, who survives.

Jerry was retired from NIPSCO in 2001. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing dominoes and cards.

A 1961 graduate of Royal Center High School, Jerry enjoyed attending his class reunions and the class dinners held every six months. 

He was an avid Indiana University fan and enjoyed watching bowling and golf on TV.

In 2003, he and Becky took a train trip on Amtrak to San Francisco, Denver and back to Indiana. They also rode the Grand Canyon Train and had a great view of the canyon. It was the trip of a lifetime. They also enjoyed other group trips with Unique Travel. On February 25, 2006, he was inducted into the Loganland USBC Bowling Hall of Fame and received the award for Performance and a certificate. For retirement he received a gift of a navy blue PT Cruiser, a car he loved. Finally, he was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

Jerry’s name is permanently inscribed in the Hometown Heroics exhibit at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Saint Louis, Missouri.

He was a member of and longtime usher at All Saints Catholic Church and the Pulaski Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Robert (Pamela) Stover, Fort Wayne and Michael (Cynthia) Stover, Franklin, Tenn.; brothers, Larry (Carolyn) Stover, Logansport, and Ron Stover, Twelve Mile; four grandchildren, Drake (Rachel) Stover, Spencer (Brooke) Stover, Carter Stover and Charli Stover; great grandchildren, Ella, Jasper and Claire Stover; sisters-in-law, Nola Stover, Swayzee and Phyllis Timmons, Logansport; uncle, George Richard 'Dick' Timmons, Logansport; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lillian Stover; infant brother, Guy Howard Stover; and brother, Donald Stover. Also preceding were his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Timmons; sister-in-law, Jacque Byrkett; and brother-in-law, John 'JT' Timmons.

The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., with the visitation following from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27th, at Kroeger Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Gustavo Lopez officiating.

Interment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
