Marie Mittica, 87, Logansport passed away at Chase Center Friday, April 17, 2020.
Born in Logansport, on March 8, 1933, she was the daughter of Goldie (Stewart) McManus and Dennis McManus.
On June 28, 1954 in St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, she was married to the love of her life, Dominic Mittica who preceded her in death August 8, 2018.
Marie was a 1952 graduate of Washington Township High School where she received the “I Dare You” Leadership Award. She loved playing Euchre, mushroom hunting, quilting, embroidering, sewing, restoring wood furniture, collecting antiques and volunteering as a 4-H Leader and for the Mental Health Association.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved gardening, cooking and canning everything on the table from sauerkraut to beets. She churned her own butter from Mertzie, her milk cow, made her own bread, aged cottage cheese, and turned cinnamon rolls into ‘Cinnabons’. She captured her Italian cuisine from her Italian mother-in-law and always made sure everyone had plenty of food to eat. But her real pride and joy was that she raised 5 healthy children.
Surviving family members include children, Ann (Tim) Adams, Willow Springs, North Carolina; Terri (Curt) Brazzle, Logansport; Sue (Rod) Erny, Kokomo; Dominic Jr. “Butch” (Becky) Mittica, Coats, North Carolina; and Bernie (Gloria) Mittica, Royal Center.
