Mark Vincent Penz, age 81, Logansport, was called home to Our Lord on Sunday morning, October 8th. He passed suddenly from heart failure.
Born November 23, 1941, in Kokomo, he was the son of Vincent and Anice “Polly” Penz. He was married to Mary Ann Barrett on his 22nd birthday in 1963. Their first date was at Christmas midnight mass at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Logansport
Mark retired as an electrician from Chrysler Corp after 46 years of service. He attended Kokomo High School and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Mark lived life to the fullest and had countless interests and never-ending projects and hobbies. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer, turkey and mushroom hunting, fishing, canoeing and gardening. His most recent hobbies included flint knapping, bow and arrow making, and playing games with his family and friends. Mark had many lifelong friends, who were as close to him as brothers. He was a wealth of knowledge and loved giving advice. Never one to withhold information, he was the first to offer a solution and always took the time to explain “how”. He enjoyed storytelling, building and fixing things, helping neighbors, creating tools, and learning as much as he could.
Mark especially loved dancing with Mary Ann to 50’s music throughout their lifetime. He was one-of-a-kind, a jack of all trades and master of many. Most importantly, Mark loved the Lord, and was a proud and loving husband, father, mentor and provider for his family.
Surviving are his children, Nanette Penz-Reuter (Mike), Fountain Hills, AZ, Natalie (David) Calisto, and Troy (Amy) Penz, sister Judith Pearson, brother-in-law, John Barrett and sister-in-law Sarah Barrett, all of Logansport.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Adrian, Alex, Matthew (Makinsey) Calisto, Rachel Calisto and Jillian and Conner Penz; and many nieces and nephews.
His wife Mary Ann Penz, and a sister Helen Kalata, preceded him in death.
