Mary “Joan” Scherer, age 95, Logansport, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
Born February 14, 1928, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Thomas L. and Genevieve Snyder Schull.
On November 11, 1947, she married Paul W. Scherer, who preceded her in death on April 8, 2023.
Joan was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, including singing in the choir, reading the lessons at church services and working at many other church functions.
She enjoyed playing cards, quilting and sewing, bird watching and reading. She also enjoyed watching specific television programs.
Most of all, Joan was a very caring and loving mother and grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to attend any of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Joan had a been a member of the Logansport Art Association and the 3rd Mother’s Study Club.
In earlier years, she had been employed at Logansport Spring Company, the Golden Rule Department Store and Barber’s Sewing Supplies. She assisted with auction sales for Gene Angle and Doug Davies.
Surviving are sons, Thomas (Judy) Scherer, Mark Scherer and Christopher Scherer; daughter, Paula (Charles) Schroeder; daughter-in-law, Carla Scherer; grandchildren, Randy Pugh, Jeff (Amber) Pugh, Christina (Armando) Scherer, Jennifer (Evan) Scherer, Chastiti Scherer and Casi (Bobby) Goodbar; great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Caedah, Owen, Amiah, Keaton (Marissa), Carter and Emerson; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by two sons, John Scherer and Jim Scherer; sister, Barb Wolfe; sister-in-law, Barb Crispen; brothers-in-law, William Scherer and George Scherer.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30th, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, following visitation, with Pastor David Smith officiating.
The Scherer family wishes to thank the staff of Miller's Merry Manor and Guardian Angel Hospice for the outstanding and comfort care they provided.
Interment at a later date will be in the columbarium at Trinity Episcopal Church.
