Patricia R. Nickel, age 93, Fort Wayne, formerly of Logansport, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home in Fort Wayne.

Born January 22, 1931, in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the daughter of Raymond Arthur and Frances Cook Hall.

On October 24, 1953, in Chicago, she married Robert S. Nickel, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2014.

Pat was a 1948 graduate of Fort Wayne North Side High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University in 1952. After graduating from IU, she moved to Logansport, where she was employed at WSAL Radio.

For over 25 years she was employed by JOANN’s. Prior to that she was a substitute teacher in the Logansport and Lewis Cass community school systems.

Pat was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church (and the former St. Joseph’s Church), where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was also a member of the All Saints Ladies Society, Daughters of Isabella, St. Gerard Study Club and St. Joseph’s Home & School Association.

She loved reading, gardening, sewing and all sorts of crafts.

An accomplished seamstress and artist, she painted scenery and sets for local high school productions and helped with costuming.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Robert “Drew” and Carolyn Nickel, Fort Wayne, Steve and Donna Nickel, Livonia, MI, Patti and Ed Green, Livonia, MI, Cathi and Bryan Catlin, Clayton, IN, Mike and Kathi Nickel, Evansville, and Don Nickel, Logansport.

Pat is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as by her brother Art Hall, San Antonio, TX, and several cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 17th, in the

 Parish Hall at All Saints Catholic Church, 112 E. Market St, Logansport, IN, 46947,

followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Father Gustavo Lopez.

Donations for masses may be given in Pat’s memory.
