Richard “Dick” Klein, age 91, Logansport, passed away at 1:49 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, surrounded by family at his home.
Born August 6, 1932, in Denison, Texas, he was the son of Donald and Olga Nicholson Klein.
At the age of thirteen, Dick began working for Loren Price at Price Electrical. Dick’s father, Don Klein, was an electrician and Dick followed in his dad’s footsteps.
A 1950 graduate of Logansport High School, Dick later enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. Following his military service, he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (flight school) in Miami, Florida, where he earned a commercial pilot’s license as well as certification in aircraft mechanics.
On October 15, 1960, in St. Joseph’s Church, Logansport, he married Betty Moss, who survives. Rev. Msgr. Maurice Foley officiated at the ceremony.
Dick retired as chief estimator of the electrical operation at Burton Mechanical Contractors in Rochester. Having achieved certification as a Master Electrician, Dick was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and recently received his 70-year membership medal.
He enjoyed his birds, reading and watching television. He especially enjoyed tinkering in the garage with things needing to be repaired, which he could always fix one way or another, usually ”jimmy-rigged”.
Surviving, in addition to Betty, his wife, are daughters, Patty (Craig) Wagner, Logansport, and Sharon Klein (Cary), Morton Grove, Illinois; grandchildren, Rebekah, Ben, Zach, Shelly, Molly, Nick; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Collins, Flora, Delores “Dee” Pugh, Logansport; brother-in-law, Carl “Dick” Moss, Twelve Mile and sister-in-law, Carol Moss, Walkerton, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Neville.
