Roy F. Lantz Jr. Obituary

(This obituary was lovingly written and submitted by the family.)

Roy F Lantz, Jr, 60, Peru, passed away at his home on Friday, January 16, 2026.

He was born on May 21, 1965, at Logansport Memorial Hospital to the late Roy F. Lantz, Sr. and Linda L. (Wolfe) Lantz.

Roy graduated from Logansport High School in 1983. From 1986 to 1987 he lived in Savannah, GA where he enjoyed many trips to the river and Tybee Island, GA.

From 1991 until 1998 he worked inner metal machines and Set-up at GenCorp in Logansport. In 1998 he moved to Green Bay, WI, and achieved his CDL-A and went on to drive for Prairie Farms in Logansport and helped with the little league at Lewis Cass.

He moved on to drive for Dean Foods, Inc in Rochester, IN.  He was an active participant of the Rochester Little League football. From there he transferred to Mobile, AL, and continued as a main route driver in Baldwin County. Driving to his stops in Gulf Shores was his favorite. He continued a 12-year career with Brown's Dairy, first as a driver, before moving into a supervisory role in Gulfport, MS, eventually spending his last years with the company as Branch Manager for the Baton Rouge office.

While he did not relish navigating the streets during Mardi Gras, the communities cherished their Brown's Dairy man. Roy adored their affection, and he discovered a love for Cajun and Creole delicacies like boiled shrimp, flounder, beignets, King cake, etouffee, gumbo, and crawfish boils, although he never had the chance to savor the latter. It was still "fish bait".

After his departure from Brown's Dairy in 2018, Roy enrolled into Fortis College along with his oldest son, Jacob. Both received their HVAC certifications in 2020, where both graduated and became EPA certified.  He then went on to Walmart where he worked in the 'Meat Department'.  The Baton Rouge store manager liked him so much; she would always say, "That Mr. Roy, I like him. He's a little rough around the edges, but that's what I need in my store - someone to tell me how things are going."

He loved his Baton Rouge coworkers and always had a smile or a joke for them; but, alas, there's no place like home, and he came back to Indiana. He continued his career at his new home store, where he continued to enjoy his Walmart family (Kokomo) until his passing.

Roy loved driving by the cornfields along the country roads and would always say, "Yep, those stalks will be knee high by July." After a hard day at work, you would find him at the table with a Coke Zero and his phone on You Tube, watching the 'Larson Farms', HVAC guys, "goonzsquad" and many more...

Roy is survived by wife, Cindy; two children, Jake Lantz and John Lantz. Also surviving are two grandchildren. He deeply loved his family.

Also, his mother, Linda (Lantz) Williams; brothers, Michael (Linda) Williams (daughter, Averil) and Kevin Lantz (daughters, Angela and Dezaray); one sister Rose (Lantz) Spencer (son, Matthew).

Also surviving are several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lantz, Sr,; a half-brother, Dale Conklin; niece, Debra Lynn and two nephews, Steven Shull and Joshua Spencer.
