Viola M. Johnson, age 67, Rossville, passed away unexpectedly at 12:24 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2020, in her residence.
Born January 18, 1953, in Knightstown, she was the daughter of Coy and Mary Hicks Riley.
She was married to Dave Johnson, who survives.
Viola was a graduate of Pioneer High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Woods College, Terre Haute.
She had been employed as a social worker at Area IV. A woman of sincere compassion, Viola had a true social worker’s heart. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren, the darlings of her life.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, Rick Parsons (Shonda Isaacs), Delphi; twin daughters, Dawn (Thad) Wilburn, Fort Wayne and Dusty (Tom) Marcucci, Florida; brothers, Al (Sue) Riley, Royal Center, Bernie (Marianna) Riley, Kokomo, John Luke Riley, Lake Cicott; sisters, Nancy Brough, Logansport, Teresa (Greg) Long, Georgia; grandchildren, Nolan Wilburn, Justin Berry, Emily Parsons; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Preceding her in death are her parents; sister, Cindy Winegardner; brothers, Will Riley and Mark Riley.
The graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pastor Jackie Shaw will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice, preferably one to assist the needy.
