Walter W. “Wally” Shaffer, age 85, Williamsburg, Virginia, formerly of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in his residence in Williamsburg.
Born July 24, 1937, in Georgetown, Vermillion County, Illinois, he was the son of Walter W. and Goldie Hall Shaffer.
On December 12, 1966, in New Market, Indiana, he married Judith K. Taylor, who survives. They met on a blind date which then led to a nearly fifty-eight year happy marriage.
A United States Army veteran with six years of service, Wally was employed in the dietary department at the Logansport State Hospital, where he had been employed for twenty-six and one half years.
Wally enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe. He also enjoyed sporting events and periodically played a round of golf. A quiet and kind man, Wally was an excellent husband to Judy and father to their son.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Troy (Karen) Shaffer, Avon, Indiana. Also surviving are Wally’s brothers-in-law and their spouses, Tom and Pam Taylor, Fred and Linda Taylor, all of Crawfordsville, Frank and Pam Taylor, Winslow, Indiana.
Also surviving are two granddaughters, Hillary and Alicia and two great grandsons, Walker and Porter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31st, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
Entombment in the mausoleum at Crown Hill Cemetery will follow. Jim Crain will officiate at the cemetery.
