Marjorie “Lou” Kirkwood, age 92, Logansport, passed away at 3:13 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016, in her residence at McKinney Place.

Born May 14, 1924, in Pontiac, Ill., she was the daughter of James and Laura Kneale Irvin. On April 16, 1949, in Pontiac, she was married to B. Robert Kirkwood, who preceded her in death on January 1, 2007.

Lou graduated from Pontiac High School in 1942. She played the trumpet and piano in her youth.

Lou then received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bradley University in 1946 and attended graduate school at the University of Illinois. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Kappa sororities.

Lou taught home economics at Columbia Jr. High School from 1967 to 1977. She was an avid golfer for over sixty years and was a member of the Logansport Country Club.

Lou was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she served in many capacities, including ECW President and Altar Guild.

In 1988 Lou and her husband, Bob, retired to Tucson, Ariz., and returned to Logansport in 2006.

Surviving are sons, J. Robert (Sara) Kirkwood, Logansport. Ind., John R. (Wendy) Kirkwood, Carmel, Ind.; daughter, Ann Kirkwood Heindel (Matthew), San Antonio, Tex.; brother, James Irvin, Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jamison (Scott) Rozzi, Overland Park, Kan., Justin R. Kirkwood, Bloomington, Ind., Nathan (Paula) Losure, Alexandria, Ky., Kyle Kirkwood and Kelli Kirkwood (Eli) Vida, and Colby Nish, all of Indianapolis, Ind., and Bailey Nish, Carmel, Ind..

Also surviving are great grandchildren, Charlotte Rozzi, George Rozzi, Olive Rozzi, Nolan Losure, Parker Losure, Audrey Losure and Ian Losure; two nieces and four nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 319 Seventh Street, Logansport, IN 46947.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22nd, at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m., also on Saturday. Father Clark Miller will officiate.

Interment will be in the Columbarium at Trinity Episcopal Church.
