Roxanne Smith Allen, age 60, Logansport, passed away at 5:04 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, in her residence.

Born December 16, 1953, in Logansport, she was the daughter of John Harold and Hazel I. Reed Smith.

On September 14, 1975, in Logansport, she was married to Lawrence "Larry" Allen, Jr., who survives, in Logansport.

Roxanne had been produce manager at Main Street Market (formerly Marsh) on Fourteenth Street, where she had been employed for 34 years.

Roxanne attended St. Bridget's elementary school and was a 1972 graduate of Logansport High School. She greatly enjoyed her employment at Main Street Market, calling it the "best job ever". She credited Howard Lhamon, Tim Rose and Tracy Kelley for her career success. Many high school and student employees in her department regarded her highly and spoke of her as their "mother". During her illness she often expressed the desire to return to her job at the store.

Roxanne had been a local fundraising campaign chair for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Michael Brock (Kacey) Allen, Hobart, brother, Tom R. (Vicki) Smith, sisters, Rita (George) Hornbeck, and Duanna Noel, all of Logansport, and grandchildren, Chandler Allen and Cooper Allen.

Also surviving are aunts, Reta (Ron) Gilbert, Royal Center, Liz Anderson, Champaign, Ill., and an uncle, Kenny Reed, Logansport, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Father Dominic Petan officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
